The Great Spotted Woodpecker: The Pulse of the Woods

The drummer of the towpath, captured in glass

If you’ve ever walked the Kennet and Avon Canal on a crisp Wiltshire morning, you know the sound. It’s the rhythmic, persistent *tap-tap-tap* echoing through the ancient oaks—the unmistakable heartbeat of the woods.

This handcrafted stained glass Woodpecker is my tribute to those elusive neighbors. Unlike my botanicals, this piece captures the kinetic energy of a bird in mid-perch, ready to bring that woodland magic to your indoor garden.

The Craftsmanship
The Palette: I’ve used a striking combination of vibrant crimson, jet black, and stark white glass to mirror the bold markings of the Great Spotted Woodpecker.

The Base: Each bird is mounted on a sturdy wire stem, designed to "perch" perfectly inside a potted plant, a vase of pussy willow, or even a tabletop terrarium.

Who Would Love This?
This isn't just a decoration; it’s a piece of the British countryside. It makes a thoughtful gift for:

The Birdwatcher: For the twitcher who has everything, this is a way to "spot" a woodpecker every single day, regardless of the season.

The "Black Thumb" Gardener: Perfect for the person who loves nature but struggles to keep plants alive—this bird brings life to any corner without needing a drop of water.

The New Homeowner: A unique housewarming gift for someone moving to the countryside (or someone who misses it).

The Intentional Collector: Anyone who appreciates heritage crafts and the "Slow Living" philosophy of a solar-powered floating studio.
