Monarch Butterfly Plant Stake
Inspired by a morning visitor who came twice to say hello.
This one began with a dance. A monarch circled me on my morning walk along the towpath once, twice, closer each time like she was asking to be noticed. Hours later, another (or perhaps the same traveller) drifted through the hatch and settled on my fern, wings open, posing in the afternoon light as if she'd simply come to finish what she started.
I couldn't let a moment like that pass without capturing it in glass.
Each wing is hand-cut and leaded in warm amber, burnt orange, and deep black the same fire-and-shadow palette that caught my eye that morning then set on a slender stake so she can rest among your own plants, just as she rested on mine. Let her perch in a fern, a pot of herbs, a window box, anywhere you'd love a little unexpected wonder to land.
A small piece of glass, carrying a big reminder: sometimes magic visits twice, just to make sure you were paying attention.
Handmade in my floating studio on the water. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, with slight variations in glass tone and lead lines no two monarchs are quite alike, the same as in nature.
